*NEW Client* We're now working with The Tawny, Staffordshire

THE LIFESTYLE COLLECTIVE IS EXCITED TO BE WORKING WITH THE TAWNY, A STONE’S THROW FROM THE PEAK DISTRICT

Firmly on the map as a must-visit UK hotel, The Tawny, Staffordshire is famed for its clever, deconstructed design. Weaving secluded cabins, picturesque waterfront retreats, a heated outdoor pool, and The Plumicorn restaurant, into 70 acres of rewilded gardens and woodland, filled with follies and lakes.

Before we even stepped into a bedroom, we couldn’t help but immediately fall in love with the friendly team, their eco-minded operations and the haven for wildlife and nature The Tawny embodies.

The West Midlands is largely known for an unrivalled heritage in ceramics, but the launch of the Tawny, in 2021, opened-up this formerly underrated part of the country and put it on the map for boutique stays – quite the game changer.

Created by two local couples passionate about restoring the magical gardens created by 20th Century engineer William Podmore, which had fallen into neglect. The Tawny has breathed new life into Consall Gardens; the whole estate has flourished under the green fingers of The Tawny’s expert gardening team whose long-term vision for the flora and fauna of this unique landscape is yet to be fully realised.

Inviting a sense of the outdoors in, there’s a choice of 34 low-impact rooms – from treehouses to shepherds’ huts, boathouses, and luxury retreat suites – peppered amongst the woodland gardens. Interiors are contemporary, with all the mod-cons and clever touches to feel right at home (the treats and goodies included, all sourced from local producers certainly hit the spot). Every room comes complete with an outdoor spa bath, perfect for stargazing or admiring the view by day. Wildlife and nature are all around, and The Tawny even borders an RSPB nature reserve (twitchers, you’re in for a treat!) and sits within a recognised dark sky area.

WHAT’S NEW FOR 2023 / 24?

We’re thrilled to be supporting The Tawny at an exciting time of development – from sustainability investments into a greener future, to announcing the addition of ‘The Fledglings’ (new luxury, serviced rentals, coming soon) and the launch of an enhanced programme of guest experiences and adventures.

- NEW ACCOMMODATION -

INTRODUCING THE FLEDGLINGS

From December 2023, The Tawny launches ‘The Fledglings’ – a collection of luxury serviced rentals, each offering a unique home-from-home, designed for friends and family set in a beautiful rural idyll – with all the benefits of the hotel’s services, in the privacy of their own space.

The Tawny’s three new rentals are nestled in the stunning Staffordshire countryside with views over the Churnet Valley and beyond. Deliberately curated to feel like an extension of the hotel, each comes complete with a personalised concierge service. A Fledgling host is available to tailor bespoke arrangements and itineraries for guests, from firepit & marshmallow packages to private dining experiences, pop-up cinema nights, pamper hampers and more.

Each property is individual, yet all are beautifully designed taking inspiration from the natural surroundings, bringing a sense of the outdoors in; each property features an outdoor bathing opportunity.

The first of ‘The Fledglings’ opens for stays over this festive season. Hidden away in a secluded setting lies Kestrel Cottage. Steeped in history, this quirky property has been fully restored to the highest standard. Guests can enjoy 4 ensuite bedrooms and stunning interiors equipped with a games room, private bar, landscaped gardens, and an outdoor heated swimming pool.  Kestrel Cottage – sleeps 8 / 4 bedrooms / from £800 per night.

Falcon Farmhouse, an idyllic countryside escape for 8 with its own plunge pool and outdoor entertaining area opens in the Spring 2024, with a third, exciting property opening in Spring 2025.

The Tawny’s new initiative will see a tree planted for every Fledgling booking made. This endeavour symbolises the team’s dedication to preserving and enhancing the surrounding countryside. Every tree planted goes some way to ensuring that future generations can revel in the same natural beauty that inspires visitors to The Tawny.

A GREENER FUTURE: SUSTAINABLE ENERGY INVESTMENT

New for 2023, 108 solar panels and solar batteries are due to be installed on site, along with 14 EV chargers for guest use. This forward-thinking approach to hospitality means the hotel will generate and use more renewable energy, enough to power a large proportion of the day-to-day operations and resulting in a forecasted 20-ton decrease in carbon emissions.

Other sustainable initiatives include:

  • The Plumicorn restaurant operates a holistic approach. Menus are seasonal and considered, they feature beautifully crafted dishes that utilise every element of a key ingredient. There’s a conscious effort to reduce food wastage from the kitchen whilst maintaining high standards and innovation.

  • All the food & drink suppliers are sourced within 30 miles of the hotel, using the best seasonal & quality produce supporting British companies. The only exception to this rule is the fish – which is sourced from Celtic Fish & Game, a family run independent company in St Ives.

  • The food oil is recycled (https://www.olleco.co.uk/) and the food waste gets recycled for energy too (https://refood.co.uk/)

  • The gardens are home to over 30 species of birds and bird boxes are dotted around the estate to encourage migrating birds too.

  • Recycling is in place across all operations.

  • Bedroom mini bars are personalised to guest preferences, offering a selection of high quality independent & British brands (for added delight, and to reduce waste).

  • Complimentary guest flip flops in the bedrooms are recycled by Shoe Aid to support footwear poverty.
