NEW CLIENT: NUMBER ONE BRUTON

The family-run hotel in arty Bruton is expanding with the purchase of the pub next door to introduce 5 new bedrooms and an exciting new dining experience.

We are so happy to finally be able to share that we’re working with Number One Bruton in Somerset. This charming bolthole is packed full of character – one of the very best family-run and beautifully designed boutique properties in the UK – exactly what we love and strive to work with at The Lifestyle Collective. Run by husband-and-wife team Claudia and Aled, the hotel is a love letter to the southwest – a cosy, joyful escape showcasing Somerset’s local suppliers and craft heritage in every room.

NEWS FOR 2024

NEW BEDROOMS

We come on board at an exciting time, as the hotel expands into the ancient pub next door, formerly The Blue Ball, creating more exceptional bedrooms and welcoming a new informal dining and living room. Claudia and Aled are working with B2 Architects and interior designers Frank & Faber on the five new bedrooms, opening in Summer 2024. This growth, which restores the building to its original mediaeval footprint; cements the hotel’s standing in the community and excellent reputation both at home and abroad.

NEW RESTAURANT

The expansion into The Blue Ball brings with it an exciting opportunity for the hotel to develop a more expansive food and drink offering. Early next year, after four years of successful partnership, Number One Bruton are bidding a fond farewell to Merlin Labron-Johnson as he moves Osip to its new home, just a short distance from Bruton. We’re keeping the next-gen restaurant plans close to our chest for the moment but something exciting is brewing. A new restaurant will open in Spring 2024 – watch this space.

ABOUT NUMBER ONE BRUTON

Number One Bruton opened its doors in 2020. The hotel is made up of an elegant Georgian townhouse, medieval forge and row of cottages carefully converted into a 12-bedroom hotel set around a pretty private courtyard. At the heart of the project is a devotion to Somerset’s artistry and culture. The derelict, medieval-era property was transformed over a period of four years and is now a showcase for the county’s architectural heritage, gourmet pedigree and culture. Famous local residents, including Don McCullin, Bill Amberg and Candace Bahouth, have contributed art and objects, and Claudia’s mother Brigid Keenan gifted the fashion photographs in the sitting room. Britain’s most treasured living garden designer, Penelope Hobhouse, is behind the courtyard garden.
