THE TAWNY HOTEL LAUNCHES KESTREL COTTAGE

The award-winning Tawny Hotel opens Kestrel Cottage - a brand new boutique rental with a personalised concierge service. This is the first of three properties known as The Fledglings, and The Tawny’s first foray into the self-catered sector, made with families and groups in mind.

Designed to bring a sense of the outdoors in, the interiors are beautifully appointed with all mod-cons, luxury touches, and gorgeous attention to detail. But, what really sets these properties apart is the extra-special hospitality The Tawny is known for. Here, it is all about personalised services and tailor-made experiences that make a holiday more memorable, in the privacy of your own space.

KESTREL COTTAGE

Nestled within the stunning Staffordshire countryside with views of the Churnet Valley and beyond, Kestrel Cottage sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. The house is fully equipped with a games room, private bar, landscaped gardens, and a swimming pool.

The cottage is kitted out in earthy greens by Farrow & Ball, which are highlighted by the Liberty print fabrics used for the curtains and blinds throughout. Loaf sofas are perfect for slumping into after a stomp across the valley and there are the best Hypnos mattresses on all the beds. Pooky lampshades light up the house as well as the local artwork by Georgina Walton and Heath Rosselli.

Inside the cottage, the bathrooms were designed with Lusso, and outside, William Holland's copper tapped outdoor bath is the perfect luxury in complete privacy with views across the hills. And that's before we even mention the outdoor pool which is heated year round. A collaboration with Big Green Egg ensures that all barbecues at Kestrel Cottage are a step above the rest.

Unique experiences for guests of The Fledgling’s include:

  • Private Chef experiences including Big Green Egg BBQ’s and Nordic Dining

  • A fully stocked bar with pre-made cocktails or your own private bartender and masterclass

Notes to Editors:

THE TAWNY HOTEL

Firmly on the map as a must-visit UK hotel, The Tawny, in Staffordshire is famed for its clever, deconstructed design. Weaving secluded cabins, picturesque waterfront retreats, a heated outdoor pool, and The Plumicorn restaurant, into 70 acres of rewilded gardens and woodland, filled with follies and lakes.

The family run business, created by two local couples, passionately restored the magical gardens created by 20th Century engineer William Podmore, which had fallen into neglect. The Tawny, which opened in 2021, has breathed new life into Consall Gardens; and the whole estate has flourished under the green fingers of The Tawny’s expert gardening team whose long-term vision for the flora and fauna of this unique landscape is yet to be fully realised.

Inviting a sense of the outdoors in, there’s a choice of 34 low-impact rooms – from treehouses to shepherds’ huts, boathouses, and luxury retreat suites – peppered amongst the woodland gardens. Interiors are contemporary, with all the mod-cons and clever touches to feel right at home (the treats and goodies included, all sourced from local producers certainly hit the spot). Every room comes complete with an outdoor spa bath, perfect for stargazing or admiring the view by day. Wildlife and nature are all around, and The Tawny even borders an RSPB nature reserve and sits within a recognised dark sky area. GAIA Spa Treatments are available, and bicycles are offered on a complimentary basis.
