Kin House - Make way for a new design led party house

INTRODUCING KIN HOUSE

OPENING IN WILTSHIRE, JULY 2022

MAKE WAY FOR A NEW DESIGN-LED PARTY HOUSE

Open July 2022, Kin House is a lovingly restored Georgian manor house in the Wiltshire countryside. On the edge of the pretty village of Kington Langley, this Grade II listed house is set within walled gardens and private woodland and has been painstakingly and sensitively restored to its former glory over the last year with interiors led by the British design studio Barlow & Barlow.

Having spotted a gap in the venue marketplace, Kin House looks to provide the ultimate hotel experience that’s tailored exclusively to private events. Geared up to host everything from birthday dinners, private lunches, wild weekends, wellness retreats, or whole house takeovers, this is a place to gather great people and be decadent.

STAY

Within the house are 12 luxurious bedrooms furnished with all the extra touches you’d expect in a hotel room – think cosy robes, toiletries and minibars. Every room has its own bathroom with a rainforest shower and some bedrooms come with vast rolltop bathtubs overlooking the grounds.

There are three lounge spaces downstairs to make yourself at home in. The study can be flipped to become a meeting space or an intimate dining room for meals by the log fire. Fitz Bar, named after Kington Langley’s original Medieval alias, Langley Fitzurse, serves a comprehensive drinks list including their signature burnt orange negronis; the bar is open until you decide to call it a night.

DESIGN

Barlow & Barlow’s fearless approach to colour and pattern has been masterfully applied at Kin House to create joyful, dynamic and instantly recognisable interiors. Cheerful nods of Kin House’s shell motif, seen originally above the front door entrance, are playfully found in areas such as the shell mural in the main hallway created by decorative artist Mel Campion, and two freestanding baths wrapped in Fermoie’s ‘Shell Grotto’ fabric.

Lucy Barlow’s love of leopard print can also be found throughout the house, whilst also taking the form of a tortoise shell finish on the bar and pillars in the Fitz bar, which creates an atmospheric 1920’s speakeasy bar.

Barlow’s interest in the expressive power of design stretches back to her early days studying fashion, which is instilled in her love of pattern and texture and is no less showcased in the Gucci changing room that she has created. With sustainability always at the forefront, it was important for Barlow & Barlow to repurpose as much material as possible. Repurposed timber is found throughout the house, along with original delft tiles and traditional tiles.

Lucy Barlow, Creative Director of Barlow & Barlow said: “Kin House has been designed to be a home away from home. A place where for the short time you’re there it feels like yours. Elegantly comfortable but with that lived in, slightly eccentric country house feel that English Manor Houses so often have. Moments of vibrant colour with splashes of pattern alongside alongside antique furniture and uplifting art”

PAMPER

The house has its very own ‘Dressing Room’ kitted out with hairdryers, tongs, hair-washing sinks and squashy swivel chairs at a glamourous marble bar. Tucked away on the top floor you’ll also find a speakeasy-style Barbers where you can schedule in grooming treatments pre-dinner.

GET OUTDOORS

Ensconced in 10 acres of gardens, Kin House has a variety of options for al fresco feasting, outdoor wedding ceremonies and even glamping set ups. Take a wander through the gardens and you’ll find a secluded wooded glade – the ultimate setting for dinner under the stars

PARTY

Attached to the side of Kin House is Kilvert Hall with space for up to 200 people to dine and dance until late. Launch parties, weddings or cocktails for a crowd – whatever the brief, they can host it. There’s even a stage for live music. For a more intimate event, there is also the Hearth Room with vaulted ceilings and an original 18th century fireplace… And what’s a party without a Gucci-inspired photobooth?

FEAST

A talented in-house team of chefs create menus and feasts for any occasion. Offering everythingfrom whole joints of meat cooked over fire to abundant family fare or pizzas from the wood oven. The team will work with guests to plan the ultimate party spread. Whether you would like to take over the manor house for a day, a weekend or more, the team have over 10 years’ experience planning parties and events. There will also be a monthly programme of events open to guests as well as the public to attend – think, yoga retreats, floristry courses, tablescaping or homebrewing.

Kin House is now available for private events from July 2022.
